Someone willing to do some footwork for the grant writer. Look at and into each and every possible opportunity for the foundation to receive grants to fund special projects & services for patients and caregivers.
Would like someone who has some experience in public relations. Someone who can handle press releases on a regular basis, develop relationships with media. Communication with major cancer centers so they know what the foundation is doing and we know how we can assist them.
Advocates will work under Marion Schwartz, Director of Patient Advocacy. Some or all of the following would be included in advocacy. Attending conferences to assist in the booth (if you live in the area). Distributing brochures and other materials at conference. Being present at poster presentations pertaining to CC. Attend lectures on CC (take notes), attend special invitation dinners at conferences, attend advocacy meetings, connect with other presenters and advocates at conference, exchange information get most recent updates on their technology or information for patients, report this information via the website.
We need to identify all cancer center/hospitals in the US, Canada, Asia & Europe treating cholangio and identify a contact person. Make sure this information gets to Rick and is updated regularly.
List physicians treating CC patients in each particular cancer center/hospital. Make sure this information gets to Rick and is updated regularly, make sure any links are available to the patients.
Contact major cancer centers’ information services and have them add our link to their website. (We need them to contact the person in charge of the website and talk with them)
List every medication, chemotherapy or targeted agent being used for treatment of CC. Identify the company producing it and contact person within the company for updates. Provide links where patients can easily get all the information they need to make decisions. Or find a site that already has this information available. We have an outdated spreadsheet that needs to be updated.
List every radiation treatment option for CC. List the cancer centers or hospitals that are performing the procedures regularly and any links, contact person – anything that would be helpful.

This is someone that has some experience raising money locally that could be available to answer questions, and give suggestions to those wishing to do a local fundraiser. Information and resources will be available on the website soon, they would give suggestions as to addition things we can make available to those wanting to raise funds. Look at other websites, see what kind of programs they are running, see what’s working, suggest opportunities to those who have never done anything like this before.
The foundation is going to do an annual fundraiser at the beginning of each year. This person would be a volunteer who would help coordinate efforts for the annual fund. They will work closely with the President of the foundation, Ray Clements. Some fundraising experience would be helpful. Need to be organized and an independent worker.
The foundation would like to have a conference once a year to bring together patients & caregivers, with the brightest minds in cholangiocarcinoma. We would like to hold this first conference in Houston as we will be pulling resources from M.D. Anderson. So, it would be preferred if this person were local. Experience in conference planning would be helpful but not necessary. If they are interested in this job they can contact me directly.
Organized person. Set deadlines and keep contact with those assigned to write articles. Gather information from all sources and get complete information to Rick for publication.
Some writing experience would be helpful. Will write two small articles for the newsletter, twice a year. One article focused on a patient, one focused on a local fundraiser.
